The Land of New Mexico
The land we chose to live on matters I believe
As mind and matter relate and relieve
The land of enchantment has always been
Fully immersed, I’ve felt and seen
Rustic and gentle it soothes my mind
Expansive and high it lifts me to find
Who I really am and who I ain’t
My ego existence becomes distant and faint
Clarity of that deep blue night sky
Stillness of that canyon, no me or my
Those mesas flatten my thinking
From layers of thought, no more sinking
The sense of the unknown captivates me
Like a mountain goat I seek to wander and see
Yes, it feels so familiar and known
The dry air and crisp dawns are shown
Piñon, cedar, mesquite and juniper
Pine trees, cottonwoods and alder
Grounded I am on this land
Stable and subtle on demand
I feel integration
I find assimilation
I no longer seek where I am lost or found
The Land of New Mexico is where I’ve always belonged
